K-State Advancing Learning & Teaching in Computer Science (ALT+CS) Lab is proud to host the 2nd Computer Science Education for Kansas (CS4KS). This conference is a three-day professional development opportunity for computer science educators in Kansas. Designed for educators at all levels of experience in computer science education, CS4KS brings together educators to explore best practices, emerging trends, and hands-on strategies for teaching computer science. The conference features interactive sessions, educator-led presentations, and networking opportunities that support skill-building and inspire new ideas for the classroom. Participants leave with practical strategies and renewed motivation to advance computer science education in their local communities.

This year's conference will take place from May 28–31, 2025, at the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.

  • Non-grant participants Register here!
    • The registration fee is $30 per day and includes access to all workshops, attendance certificates, breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. Hotel and travel expenses (such as gas) are not included.
  • Cyber Pipeline PACK grant participants (both current and past):
    • You will receive a separate registration link directly via email. If you haven’t received it, please reach out to us at csadmin@ksu.edu. Expenses for grant participants will be covered through grant support (See the Stipends section below). This includes registration for all days of the conference listed in the Schedule at a Glance.

Group Photo

Each registered participant will receive a CS4KS conference t-shirt at check-in. Please wear it on Wednesday, May 28 so we can take a fun and memorable group photo! The photo will take place at 12:00 PM in the Engineering Complex Atrium, during the lunch break before the workshops begin.

Travel & Logistics

  • Conference Hotel:

    • Hotel Name : Courtyard Manhattan Aggieville - Discounted group rate is available at the Courtyard Manhattan Aggieville for CS4KS attendees. Space is limited, so early booking is recommended.
    • Discount Code : CST or CSTA Conference
    • The discounted rate is available only until May 12, 2025. Please make your reservation before this date to secure the reduced rate.

    • Location : 1641 Anderson Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502
    • Distance : Walking distance to/from the conference venue is approximately 10–12 minutes

    • On the final day of the conference (May 31, 2025), a designated room at the confernece will be available for participants to securely store luggage throughout the day.

  • Parking

    • Hotel Parking: Guests staying at the conference hotel have access to free parking. Walking from the hotel to/from the conference venue is highly encouraged for those staying there.
    • K-State Parking Garage: Day permits are available for $6. K-State Parking Permits
    • ParkMobile App: Parking is available in various lots around the Engineering Building using the ParkMobile app
    • Street Parking: Street parking is also available near campus.
  • Meals

    • Breakfast is provided through the hotel for hotel guests.
    • We have coffee and snacks available in the morning break, but there probably won’t be coffee available during check-in (feel free to bring your own!).
    • Lunch is provided each day.
    • Dinner is on your own - Local restaurant recommendations:

  • Stipends
    Note: Stipends are available only for Cyber Pipeline PACK grant participants (both current and past).

    • PACK Participants will receive a total stipend of $900, distributed as $225 per day for each day of participation at the conference.
    • Attendance will be taken daily—this is required to confirm participation and process your payment.
    • Participants are responsible for any personal expenses that exceed the total stipend amount.
    • Stipend payment will be issued after the conference, once all required forms have been submitted.
      • To receive your stipend, please carefully follow the instructions below:
        • 🔗W-9 Form: please complete and SIGN this form. Only Page 1 is needed, and it must be signed.
        • 🔐 Secure Website: either upload it before here, or bring a printed copy with you.

Directions to Engineering Complex:

  • From the Conference Hotel: Walk North along Martin Luther King Blvd. (17th St.). Look for the white smokestack - the Engineering complex is just to the west.
  • Driving: Look for lot A29 at the corner of Denison Ave and Platt St. (northwest corner of the Engineering Complex). If that lot is full, lot D1 can be found a bit further south on Denison Ave. (just south of Hunting Ave.).
